The cogs are turning

I should be getting ready for work but after reading Frugal down under's blog it got me thinking if we have anywhere aluminium cans can be recycled for cash.

Ive searched and searched but I'm going around in circles.Does anyone know if this is possible or even done it?
My OH uses scrap metal merchants occasionally for other products so he might know but I'm impatient.

Please may I ask again if people could click on my ads

i think i got 3 clicks yesterday so thank you.
I do always return the favor.

OH is getting down now about the lack of work coming in so the quicker we get everything paid off the better,I know I'm still talking years for the mortgage but the stress and strain is taking its toll.

I said yesterday that OH doesn't believe in Valentines day but he tried to be nice and thoughtful and it backfired.
One of my neighbours has been trying to get hold of him for a couple of days, yesterday she blurted out to me that he had ordered some cupcakes for me and my 2 girls for Valentines day.She made them on Saturday and because he hadn't been along to pay for them she threw them away on Monday....But she still wants her money £24 .
I'm annoyed that he has wasted this money but the thought was lovely and so out of character.
I'm also a bit peeved that he ordered them for Valentines and they had to be thrown away the day before Valentines.

Now i must go and get ready for work
My showers broken so i have to run a bath.

Until later

  2. Oh dear! He started out with good intentions I guess, just didn't quite follow through.
Are you clearing the debts and then overpaying the mortgage, or trying to do both together?

    1. Kinda of doing both, i didnt reduce my payment when interest rates went down as knew at some stage it would go up again.when loans are paid off this will snowball into my mortgage as well.

  3. I think I agree with you about the cupcakes.

My parents have been recycling aluminium cans at t*sco for reward vouchers for years.

They use it to pay for their car breakdown cover.

If I see any out walking I always pick them up.

Can be tricky putting them in the recycle centre, need to learn how to do that.

How does the recycling of tin cans work at Tesco?

There are recycling facilities at ours but you don't get reward vouchers.
      Thanks

Ive just looked into the Tesco recycling and we have an automated one about 15 miles from us,so we are going to save our cans, milk bottles and glass to it once a month and hopefully do the same as your parents and use it to buy something with rewards. Many thanks for that.

  4. Oh, sorry about the cupcakes.
Here, we just put out our cans to be picked up for recycling.
I'm feeling guilty about spending more money since I broke my arm..parking at the hospital for eg and a couple of magazines to read. It can't be helped but when you are trying to pay down debt it's frustrating.

    2. In the sling it is fine...just really annoying. The arm hurts if I move it out of position with the other arm when I'm getting dressed.

  5. I'd be a bit miffed if it was my OH who had ordered the cupcakes and the woman threw them out the day before they were meant for. Wonder why she made them Saturday? She sounds a bit of an amateur to me and I would be inclined to offer her the ingredients at cost. What did OH say?
I saved lots of cans and put them through the recycling machine at Tesco about 18 months ago. I didn't get any kind of acknowledgment in the form of vouchers or such-like and at Customer Services they told me that you don't get a penny for each item any more, or a point or whatever it was. You're just recycling for the feel-good factor now apparently! Better check your local store out first!
