Financial Advice

Today i had a visit from a financial advisor regarding our mortgage. He had to do an expenditure sheet. So we went through all my monthly payments
He asked how much all my utilities were and he asked how much my grocery spend was including all toiletries.
I said i budget for £ 280 a month but normally come in under that ( 3 adults)
He told me i must of got it wrong,Why i asked,i know how much i spend.
He then told me that the national average for 3 adults is £ 600 a month.

To say i was shocked was an understatement.

  1. I was listening to someone from a debt counselling agency and they said they allow £40 a week for food for each adult.
As I said to my OH, if I spent £80 a week on our food, we would NEED a debt counselling agency!!

  7. Makes you wonder where they get these 'average' figures from doesn't it - like you I manage on £280 per month for 3 adults easily - no wonder you were shocked xx

  9. Good for you nto, it can be done we spend a similar amount for 5 of us , it's time consuming though shopping around, checking all prices and cooking carefully/ in bulk/ from scratch.
